Age Requirements

Age 25 and Above

  • Must have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months.
  • Upper age restriction: 75 years for standard vehicle hire, 69 years for Minibuses & Campervans.

  • Full Name

Documents Required

  • Driving Licence – A photocard licence is required. If the licence is an old-style paper licence, additional valid photo ID (e.g., Passport) is required.
  • Non-UK Licence Holders – Must notify us one working day in advance and provide a valid passport.
  • Passport – If the hirer does not have a passport, a photo must be taken on collection.
  • Proof of Address – Utility bill, bank statement, or pay slip (dated within the last 90 days). Mobile phone bills are NOT accepted.
  • National Insurance Number & DVLA Check Code – The check code or printed licence details can be retrieved from www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence (must be printed within 72 hours before vehicle collection).

Travelling Abroad

Travelling outside the United Kingdom is not permitted without written permission.

Payment

  • Payment can be made via debit/credit card or bank transfer.
  • Cash payments are NOT accepted.

Deposit

  • A £50 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure the vehicle.
  • Hire deposit: £500, which can be reduced to £250 by taking out an insurance excess waiver at £15 per day.
  • The hire deposit is refundable once the vehicle is returned in its original condition.

Additional Drivers

  • Additional drivers can be added for £10 per day.
  • Each additional driver must provide the same documentation and undergo the necessary checks.

Hire Periods

  • Standard hire period is based on a 24-hour basis, usually from 8:30 AM or 5:30 PM.
  • Collection times can be adjusted based on availability.

Vehicle Collection & Return

  • Vehicles must be collected and returned to:
    A to B Self Drive, Eden Works, Colne Road, Sough, BB18 6SY, unless other arrangements have been made with management.
  • Weekend Hire: Saturday collections must be made before 12 noon. Return time must be confirmed at the time of booking.

Leaving Customer Vehicles On-Site

  • Customers may leave their vehicle at our premises at their own risk.
  • A key must be left with us in case the vehicle needs to be moved.

Accident History

All drivers must disclose any accidents within the last 3 years, regardless of fault. Failing to disclose accident history may invalidate insurance and result in additional costs.

Accident Guidelines for Hirers Aged 25 and Over

  • 1 accident in the last 3 years – Acceptable for hire.
  • 2 fault accidents in the last 3 years – Requires management approval.
  • 3 or more accidents in the last 3 years – Not acceptable for hire.

Note: Any accident where costs could not be recovered from a third party is considered a fault accident.

Restricted Occupations

Certain occupations are categorised as higher risk or excluded by our insurers.

Excluded Occupations (May be reviewed by management)

  • Entertainers & Musicians
  • Professional Sportspeople
  • Individuals connected with Gambling or Bookmaking (on-course & off-course)
  • Individuals connected with Racing
  • General Dealers, Market Traders & Street Traders
  • Scrap Metal Merchants
  • Models

Higher-Risk Occupations

  • Publicans & Licensed Premises Employees
  • UK Students under 25
  • Foreign Students
  • Foreign Service Personnel
